And it started off horribly lol. I decided to take my wife’s Honda Pilot for the fuel economy since the family property is 1-1/2 hours away. We get the guns loaded up, put her in reverse, roll down the front windows to get the condensation off, and only the driver’s side window went back up . Backup plan. Load up in my big truck. Lights don’t come on when I open the door. She’s been sitting a while. Takes a good 15min to jump it. Figured I’d walk the tree and fence lines when we got there, but 3 boys closely in tow and not a single one of them understands what “quiet” means. So we went the shooting range and played for a while.
My older two boys put a full mag each through a 9mm and my youngest boy (8) put one shot through and the look on his face was priceless . Said he was done. They played with .22’s and shot up almost a full brick. Had to keep barking at the youngest to get back. Put his ear plugs in about a dozen times. At this age it’s more work than play.
All that to say my boys sprung out of bed at 5:00 when I woke them up cuz they were so excited. I’d do it again in a heart beat. Me and my wife are in that stage of life where life revolves around the kids with their sports and school. And I don’t say that negatively, we are neck deep in it and it’s fun even amid all the stress and time crunches we find ourselves in. Today was a glimpse at them becoming young men and I was just proud to have my boys with me. Am I sounding cheesy yet?
