Great Grandma taught me to keep some coarse salt in the pantry with some paper towels. Use it to clean the skillet right after cooking. No water or scrub brush unless it really bad then re-season.

There a better way that ya'll use or know of?

I usually just use the rough side of a sponge and hot water. I’ve used coarse salt with paper towels/sponge too. Then wipe a thin coat of oil in it for tomorrow.

My 9" skillet is now to the point that nothing sticks, but it took a good many years to get it there. Back when it use to I would use a wood spatula to " scrape" stuff out. Salt always seemed to require re-seasoning when I scrubbed with it.
