Like many, I grew up in the early to late 60s watching many of the old westerns. One of my favorites was with Jimmy Stewart in Winchester 1873. I promised myself one day I would own one. It’s not one in a 1000 but it is a deluxe sporting model 1873. This one will be passed down to my oldest grandson after I’m gone.

Yeah, what cal? The Miroku Winchesters are pretty dang nice. I have a Uberti in 45 Colt that’s sweet but nothing like those.
Even if you don’t short stroke it they’re nice to shoot. You’ll really like it.

And it has the octoganal/round barrel combo

While I’m hossless for now, probably the rest of my life, my inner cowboy is tattooed on my soul. I’ve had an Uberti ‘73 carbine forever. It shoots absolutely lights out, but it looks like a fence post compared to that Japchester.

I’m digging your wood man! No homo. 😂

My desire is to take this out to 500 yards on a full size IPSC target. When I spoke with Montana Vintage Arms they recommended a Sharps Vernier mid range peep with a Winchester 1885 base and a MVA combination front sight. My wife is going to kill me because every weapon I purchase needs some type sight, base, or rings.

If I knew how to draw and could draw my dream rifle, it'd be that. Gorgeous!

Did you order it? Or pick it up local somewhere?

Boy there's something I don't understand. Prices of the Miroku guns, which are amazing, seem to be less than the Italian ones? Not saying they're bad, but I don't see how they pull a premium over an equivalent optioned Winchester/Miroku.

Miroku is the CM for Winchester's branded old west rifles, so the 1873, 1886, 1892, etc. I think they don't do the 94, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, it's a negotiated contract and whatever Winchester prices their rifles. It's based on what they can sell and they aren't going to price themselves out of the market. I think it's probably cheaper in Japan vs Europe.

The Italians, though, have a little different market and a higher sales volume so they can charge a little more. Pedersoli, Chiappa, and Uberti all have nice rifles.

I ordered it from guns.com and used a discount I had. I thought about buying a Uberti but I’m not a fan of the reddish colored wood. The after market does favor the Uberti though.

Yeah, their red color is exactly that, a red lacquer/stain. They use it even on walnut. I've refinished several Uberti and Pietta revolver stocks with just tung oil and they look way better. Pedersoli has some beautiful wood stocks, but I still like that Miroku though.

I just wish they’d make an ‘86 in .40-65 so I can use my deep stash of boolits. I keep hunting for an original shooter grade, but daaayyyum!

That colored lacquer on the Eyeties is assuming that they’ll never get drug around the back forty. Kinda reminds me of dried baccy juice. 😕

Any of you guys seen a Pedersoli coach gun for sale lately, on a shelf where's a guy could fondle it ever so gently? If so, where?
