Anyone's morning starting in a blind tomorrow?

Not a fan of this heat for hunting, but game camera has me hungry. Took tomorrow morning off.

My crossbow blew up on me Sunday morning. First shot to verify all the work I did the past few weeks. Connecting bolt ripped out of my cam and destroyed everything. My fault for not spending more. Glad it did it Sunday and not tomorrow morning. Buddy hooked me up with his (we are hunting the same blind) so I'm good to go.

Bow shopping is tiresome. I know exactly DICK about compound bows since I got out of Archery in College.

Good Luck to everyone

Oh dang. Hopefully, you can get yourself a good replacement.

I won't be in the blind/stand tomorrow. I'm not sure when I'll try to get out there to be honest.
My conundrum is I don't hunt with a bow very often and I hate to spend a ton on something that might not get used but a few times a year. I also don't want to by a pile of trash and be disappointed with it.

Watch Facebook or other second hand sites. Tons of people like to have the latest and greatest and sell their year or two old setup for good prices. Just know your draw length and poundage limits and go from there. Getting a Hoyt/Mathews/PSE/bowtech would likely safeguard you from getting a total turd. Sorry yours blew up, that sucks.

Thanks.

I joined one of the FB groups and have found some really good set ups. Two biggest bugaboos is everything cool is on the other side of the state and no one wants to respond.

I have a feeling I will be taking plenty of deer off this area for the next couple years and more opportunities will come up like this. I may just need to invest in a decent set up

I are shopping for a crossbow or a vertical bow?

Hmmmm, idk bout the new current gear, I still occassionaly practice with my old bear or browning cobra laminant to remind myself I could survive using them if needed, but with the broke back & wrists body is a bit sore for few days after practicing, better using my old 20lb fiberglass recurve, only wrists are sore.

Course don't get the sore neck, back & wrists shooting the barnett raptor fx crossbow I bought on clearence sale in 14', it's just slow cocking/loading.

My woman will cook all the fish & game I get, she just don't want to see me catch, kill & process them.

Crossbows suck ass.

Somehow I have locked the arms of the cocking rope into the mechanism and the string is 85% cocked. I messed it with shaving a fun amount of skin off on both thumbs for a bit and gave up. Waiting on the bow shop to open up and have a pro look at it.

On a positive note, should be meeting with a guy on a nice PSE Decree HD package here in a bit. I'll take it to the shop and get it set up.

Had one decent buck show up at 0703. Walked around the area for 5 minutes then slowly disappeared. He came from the south through the draw and never seen me. It was early so I let him live.

0712, shit ton of forks and does came in. Each big doe had a fawn and one had two fawns following her. 20 fregging pairs of eyes. And they slowly went north across the road. Tails up, they spotted me. Big mistake on my part is my back was to the east and when the sun came up, I was a giant shadow monster. Repositioned my blind and will try again.

Should have shot that first buck I seen, but we have a shit ton of time

That shit is good for the soul!
