223 LR Bolt vs AR

Bolt vs AR
What’s the furthest distance you’ve push either platform to?

I have 20” ar I through together to take out to foul bore. I have to get some together first.

I went shooting with a friend to Okc gun club and they had 600 yard steel targets to shoot at.
Once I found my drop i was hitting them every time.
I had my drops for all the steel targets and it was too easy to ring them all.
Savage axis 22" .223 with my hand loaded 55gr Vmax.
I tried other bullets in that rifle 1:9 twist and nothing grouped tighter than that Vmax.
I do not have any rifles that have matched the accuracy of those Axis .223 rifles I have.

I shot 500 yard steel with a Lee lead 170gr bullet 1400fps muzzle velocity. The drop was ridiculous and I shot on 4 power.
I feel you just need to have a rifle and load that holds a good tight group then Send It :)

That’s pretty good

I've got a 24" AR that I have hit Prairie Dogs at 500 yds occasionally. It will keep 5 rounds under a Quarter at 200yds with 69 gr Match Kings. I've hit 10" steel with it out to 800.
That’s damn good because we know ol Kurt don’t use no bipod, bag, bench, shooting sticks, friends shoulder, or any aid whatsoever. He loathes those who do.😜 It’s strictly run and gun with a red hot barrel.

I only loath a select few, and it isn't the bipodstickbag crowd. Politicians come to mind, but I digress. When I shoot Prairie Dogs I simply walk around, find a nice place to lay down and use my day pack for a rest. I do zero off a bench with sand bags, but once zeroed, I try never to shoot off a bench again.
