Hogdon powder vs IMR powder in the same types (4895, 4350, etc), you will have less temperature effect from the Hogdon. My favorite load in 30/06 is the 165 gr boat tail over IMR 4350. I tried some Hogdon and had higher velocity than the IMR on two different occasions with a 30-40 degree difference. I I used a Lab Radar to measure the results

Honestly, I started with Varget in this rifle and 175 pills. I never could get it to shoot like I wanted. 168's the same. Moved to 4064 and it shot laser beams with a 168 ELDM. Varget did produce higher velocities too. I can dope for this change, so I'll probably stick with 4064. It's been the ticket in this barrel.
