Bought a Black Angus Bul to try in herd.

Is that in 9mm? Atlas, or MBX magazines for that will hold 23 rounds and if you get different base plates for your mags you could easily get 22-23 rounds. The slide cuts are to lightening the slide, and not really for porting, but it can be done. If it is a 9mm try running a 10# recoil spring. BUL has been around for quite awhile and they make a good 2011. Congrats on a nice new herd member!

Yeah, I know the slide cuts are to lighten the slide but its cut is the same as a TAC Pro which has the V8 ports. I doubt I’ll ever port it but it’s nice to have that option. Yes it’s a 9mm. The SAS II TAC which I have comes with an 11 lb recoil spring. The Pro model with the ports comes with a 10 lb spring. The mainspring for both models is 13 lbs. I’m currently looking for an OWB holster.

A shooting buddy of mine (retired Navy Captain) thinks we should get into IDPA when I retire. I told him I need a lot of trigger time before I seek a day of embarrassment at a club match.

I picked up a 1791 paddle holster here while back from a fella. I looked at it for a while and stuck my double stack Rock Island in it and it fit perfectly. Didn’t mash the mag release or nothing. I had been looking all over the place for a holster and one kind of fell into my lap.

I'd skip IDPA if you like shooting a lot, Most IDPA stages are like 7-15 rounds. USPSA pistol matches average around 25-32 at least locally and are much more intense. To each their own and IDPA can be fun, but if you like to shoot USPSA is the way to go. OKCGC pistol match is the first Saturday of every month, but it is best to sign up on line through Practiscore. Get around 250 rounds and come on out and try it.

Me and the same buddy shot IPSC matches for a few years eons ago and throughly enjoyed it. Life eventually interrupted it. My passion for hunting moved me to long guns/long range and that’s where my focus has been for many years now. I no longer live and breathe hunting any longer and now I enjoy being with good people punching holes in cardboard and ringing steel.

I’ve found an IWB holster but still searching for a practical retention OWB
