I picked up a Remington 700 SPS cheap. Looking to build a rifle using the action, need caliber recommendations for a long range setup that I don't have already. The donor is a 7mm Rem Mag, so any caliber that would use bolt face that is fine. I have a 6.5 and 7mm RM already, as well as a 300 and 338 Win Mag, but I would like to try something without a belted case. 300 PRC maybe? I'm not one for the latest hype but I'm open to suggestions.

Paper/Steel or hunting?

Hard to beat the 6.5 PRC to 1000 and beyond. 140's can be pushed to 3100 and 150 class bullets 3k. Recoils like a warm .308. Brass is plentiful, wide variety of powders work well.

The 7PRC, 7RSAM or 7PRCW would make an excellent long range package. 7PRCW is essentially a 6.5 PRC necked up to 7mm.

If you handload, a 7PRCW or 6.5 PRC will thrive with the longer action.

300 WSM has won a few F-Class matches too.

Paper/steel mostly. I don't normally hunt at long range, unless I see some hogs on the far end of the pasture. But I rather hunt at a closer distance. I hadn't heard of the 6.5 or 7 calibers you mentioned, so I will look into those. I do handload, so as long as components are easily available, then I'm okay with wildcats or off the wall chamberings. Thanks for the info.

All of the above calibers have brass produced by ADG I know for sure and possibly Lapua. Dies are pretty open too. Redding and Forster I know of.
