The Hearing Protection Act (HPA) might be in trouble in the House Ways and Means Committee, and anti-gun lobbyists are NOT the ones holding it up. Take Action!
You know, I despise what the Democrats have done over the last 30+ years, but at least they’ll pay the price if it means they can get shit done. The GOP will do whatever it takes to keep a majority so they can do jack shit with it.
In related news, the "big beautiful bill" contains wording that would remove suppressors from the NFA and/or make the transfer/mfg fee $0. These are (2) separate line items in the bill designed as a failsafe in the event the senate parlimentarian tries to strike one of them out.
So best case remove them from the NFA so they can be purchased like any normal "firearm" without a tax stamp, and worst case they stay on NFA with the paperwork and wait times but no $200 stamp.
The bill did pass the House and now goes to the Parlimentarian and Senate for a vote before Uncle T signs it.
The Parlimentarian is an Obama appointed democrat, although I don't think this should make a difference in this case because the purpose of that job is to ensure funding bills are only related to money matters. (NFA is under the IRS when it comes to taxing and thus related to funding)

The Senate Parliamentarian has done a pretty decent job over the years. She kept the Dems from ramming everything they wanted down our throats via reconciliation, so I’m not gonna bitch too loudly if she makes the GOP follow the rules, too. I think they have a pretty decent case for including suppressors in the bill, seeing as how that $200 tax is, well, a tax.
