Kel-Tec Sub2000 5.7x28: Might be my favorite "every day" gun

Picked one up a few weeks ago. First mag or two had a few problems with 40gr ammo. Not a lot, but enough to notice. Gave it a thorough cleaning and it worked fine after that. I also got one of the new Kel-Tec PR57 pistols. It would absolutely not function with 40gr ammo. 27gr ammo worked perfectly and the quirky, clip-fed gun is actually pretty cool.

I called KT to see about sending in the PR57 and mentioned the issues I'd had with the Sub2000. I wound up getting shipping labels for both and sent them in. The PR57 is still there. I've had the Sub2000 back for a week. KT said they installed an upgraded bolt face and function-tested the gun with 40 rounds, 0 malfs.

The Sub2000 5.7 uses Gen2 FN magazines. They happen to be available for $19.99 at CDNN so I snagged 6 of 'em. I've since put another 150-ish rounds thru the gun and like it more and more. My wife also shoots it really well. She's been wanting a small, lightweight rifle she can pack in the car for her monthly trips to TX to visit the kids. She decided another Sub2000 5.7 was the ticket so I got my LGS to order one up...in OD green. The little rifle is only 16" long when folded and will fit in almost any medium-small travel bag. And being a Gen3 it'll fold up with a RDS on it.

Pretty nifty little gun. Now if only the PR57 works like it should when I get it back I'll be a happy 5.7 camper.
