Is the knob on the left side of the scope for illumination of focus? If it is a focus adjustment, then you should be able to adjust the diopter ring on the back of the scope and then use the focus knob for your distance. I find adjusting the diopter works best for me to cover the objective and bring up the illumination until it starts to bloom then set the diopter. You should never have to set it after that. If not illuminated then point it at a white surface and adjust it. If the scope doesn't have a separate focus knob, then having to use the rear ring to focus is a design issue that you won't be able to get around. Sorry it's not working out for you. I hope you can get your money back if you decide it's a no go.I stuck it on a rifle and brought it out here to shoot. First thing I noticed is I can’t get the reticle and the target both clear at the same time. I’m not use to scopes with a lot of adjustments but so far my vortex has this thing beat.
I hear that. For years I have been able to blame my shit shooting on the equipment. Now that I have put together what should be a really good shooting rifle, I'm running out of excuses.I have been having problems with this rifle grouping and I’m trying to figure out if it’s the rifle or the scope I had on it. I got it close now so I’m going to try some reloads to see how they shoot. I started having problems a couple weeks ago and cleaned it so far I can’t tell that it has helped. Let me rephrase that I’m sure cleaning helped but not sure it helped enough
You should let your BIL keep that thing. Does it say China or Philippines on it?I haven’t bought it yet it belongs to my BIL I have tried adjusting both and can’t seem to get them synced
Since LOW/the Japanese are pretty much the ones who make it, what they make would be the Standard, depending on what it's for. Just because it's ED, doesn't mean it's the same performance ED glass in an NFO or other quality scope. There is no industry standard for what qualifies as "ED" glass
It could be anything from your mounts, to your scope, to ammo, to just a rifle that doesn't group. You can eliminate three of those factors, but you can't do much about a rifle that doesn't group.I have been having problems with this rifle grouping and I’m trying to figure out if it’s the rifle or the scope I had on it. Send a pic and shoot a 5 round group. It’s still flinging the third shout over 2”s away from the others I give up lol
What kind of rifle and what caliber is it?I disassembled the rifle twice checked torque on screws i thought one of the action screws were stripped but it was just for the trigger guard the other action screw was under the mag release. I tried hornady factory and different reloads and a different scope today. No more than I paid for it I’ll get rid of it and start over
It’s a savage 111 .270What kind of rifle and what caliber is it?
I adjusted bothFYI, The diopter is for focusing the reticle to be nice and crisp. It is not for focusing to the target. If there's not a side focus or an objective focus, then the scope has a fixed focus for whatever range to infinity (usually 50-100m). A scope that size should have a side focus. First thing you should do with any scope, is adjust the diopter so the reticle is clear and well defined. Do that against a white background if possible and don't stare at it while your adjusting. Blink while you are doing it. You eye will focus on the reticle and you can still be out of focus. You don't want to give your eye time to focus.
Once the reticle is focused, THEN, you adjust the side focus on your target downrange. The groups you were describing sounds like a parallax issue which is what happens when your reticle and objective(side focus) are not focused.
Did you adjust the diopter first and get the reticle focused?I adjusted both
I wait 5 minutes between shots@rockchalk06 is good at getting random rifles to shoot great to a point. You might be having barrel heating issues. After 3 shots of my Ruger 270 my barrel is hot hot hot. Its shoots better when its cold. I’m calling it the one shot wonder tell I change the barrel.
