I got a lead on some LE trades at a price I was ecstatic to live with.
Went today to fondle before I file paperwork in a few days (left deposit).
My dealer had the absolute GALL to ask me if I was sure I didn't want a Super Shorty.
He's made a lot of them over the years.

So I'm buying a 590A1, LE trade out of Las Vegas, NM.
I looked it over quite a bit. The speed feed doesn't appear to have ever been used, the notch is in excellent condition on both sides. The sling mount is a GG&G, and the tube happily holds 5 round of 2 3/4" 00.
The sling is a turd, but it would get the job done, and is included.

The 14" 590A1 is still in production as pictured, MSRP $883.

Leave it to a 7" Super Shorty AOW with a Serbu pump to make my 14" SBS look like a dang full size.

Where’d you pick this up from? I’ve been pondering the SBS route. Thought I’d form 1 it via a Shockwave or more likely a Tac-14.

Red Dirt Armory in Mustang. He had 5, I think at least 3 are sold, probably 4.
Home based FFL that is mainly the kind of appointment only that requires a "hey are you home" text 😁

Ok so I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong, but I can only get the tube to hold four 2.5" shells.
This is advertised for LE use, and it's supposed to hold 5+1.
I tore it apart, the follower, spring, and spring retainer all look OEM.
What am I doing wrong?
I understand it's a 14" barrel and roughly a 14" tube, but 2.5x5 is 12.5" of shells, correct?
Since I'm kind of in a weird boat with this question, I'll say it should share the dimensions of a Shockwave tube, and those are advertised as 5+1 too...

Just found a link for manuals at Mossberg so I'm gonna go read that
Edit:
The manual for the 590 Shockwave says 5+1 2-3/4" shells.
It's actually advertised as a "six shot".

The 590 model says roughly the same thing, 5+1=6, unless running 3" shells then it's 4+1.

Are you getting 4, and the 5th goes mostly in but not fully, or not even close?

Not all shells are equal. My 590 was 8+1 and had to run a certain brand shells to get that capacity, being shell length is the shell that's been shot...not the crimped unfired shell, so they vary.

Yep, 5th only goes in about 3/4 of the way, not far enough to snag. I will grab my shoebox full of random shells and see if I can get 5 out of anything else

The S&B 00 Buck is labeled in the box 2-3/4 and the shells OAL measure 2.5" unfired. It's my first serious foray outside of the maverick world

For the Estate 2-3/4" buck, it'll take 4 and 99% of the fifth.
Winchester 7.5 shot 2-3/4" shells, takes 5 with no issues whatsoever.

Remington Pheasant Load 2-3/4" 1-1/4" 4 Shot:
5 shells effortlessly

Just get to find a combo of shot you like, that has the unfired length the gun likes. I want to say Winchester 00 Buck that came in 10 count boxes at Walmart was what worked for me.

I can measure OAL of some stuff tomorrow if you want. What size shot are you wanting?

Well, I was hoping for some 00 for a nice bedside shotgun with some range use. Wouldn't really plan on taking a class or a competition with it, and I'm not leaving a stamp in the car, like ever.
I know the world of best home defense load has been beat to death, so I'll just simplify with something that'll kill dead, and fit 5 in the tube haha.
