State of the art pistol suppression, circa 1993 versus 2024....
The top is my Glock 45 with a Rugged Obsidian 9 that I bought this year. The bottom is a Colt 1911 Government built by my father with an AWC Nexus suppressor, around 1992 or 1993. It will be interesting to listen and see how much they've changed over time. Granted, one is 9mm and the other is .45, but I'll be shooting subsonic out of both. Despite the similarity in size, the AWC is considerably heavier.
I was going to charge the Nexus with the supplied lithium grease, but I can't find our tube of it. I remember it made a big difference when the grease got completely blown out of it. Good for maybe 2 or 3 magazines. I'll have to look into a substitute. I've got a few other old cans as well in other caliblers and purposes, all from the early 70's to early 90's. It's been at least 20 years since most of these have been shot, but I remember back then how amazed I was. I may hit some of ya'll up to find comparable modern suppressors for the ones I don't already have. Have a range day and compare them.
