Only if you haven't kept up on your rifle PT. 
just remember our fathers and grandfather's CQBed their way across Europe and the South Pacific with M1s. At 6th out of 42 shooters, I have a feeling that "a lot of rifle" isn't that big of a handicap.
What is a real handicap is the relatively small rear aperture on the M-14. The winner overall used a full size FAL that had a red dot on it. A definite advantage over a small aperture. I did have one M-14 that had the rear sight augered out to .150 and it is much faster up close, but suffers farther away
