Figure we're always posting knife and/or axe pics, but no pics of what we sharpen them with, so I took a pic of some of my gear in the house.

Kinda lazy so didn't go to shed to take pics of various mill bastard files or belt sander (use this & bucket of cold water when lazy and don't feel like filing time to put initial/correct cutting angle on new and/or old axes with thick rounded factory and/or neglected edges).

ETA:
Forgot to post pic of blade jig I use with the disc on sander above.
It's a new jig for me, only used it once to practice on a scrap piece of .056 sheet metal.

It's not like bare hand holding onto the blade where you can feel the temp change and cool it, my practice piece got a blue haze quick before I noticed, did put a nice edge on it though.

I don’t have any pics at the moment, but I keep a Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker on the end table next to my recliner. I just used it the other night to freshen up the edge on my Kershaw Livewire.

I also have a Worksharp Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener Mk.2 (with blade grinding attachment), but I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet, because I don’t have a convenient place to use set it up and use it.

Have a set of croc sticks I got in late 70s in a storeage box someplace when I moved.

Knocked it off counter years ago breaking one, I jambed longer piece back in used on small pocket knives, never set back up when moved.

Since the mid 80s I've bought several various sized flat, oval & round cermanic, diamond & metal steels kept in various locations.

Year or so back my woman bought me a diamond rolling kitchen knife 15º & 20º sharpener cause she knicked her thumb knuckle using a steel and she doesn't like the white & yellow edge dressers in top pic.

Is that the geared drum with the magnetically attached abrasive plates that you roll back and forth along the edge? I almost bought the one that MKC was selling a few months ago, but I dithered too long and let them sell out.

This one is a plain jane roller with metal screw on 400 & 1000 grit discs, 15º & 20º magnetic block hold knife blade too.

She got if off amazon or temu for like $10. It's puts the angle on quick & does well enough hair shaven sharp for kitchen knives.

That’s the same general concept as the one I was considering, except the plates are magnetically attached on the version MKC was selling. IIRC, the body of the barrel remained stationary, and the outer ends turned.

I looked them up, and it’s the Horl unit they’re selling. This is the Pro, but there’s also a less expensive version.
