Just got this today on a trade for high-er end kit. It's nice but the sheath is lacking. Hard to use, bulky, not well thought out or appropriate for this type of stabber. I think I'll have to make a sheath for it. The knife isn't very sharp but a lot of these don't come sharp like razors, but it would def wreck your day if you got stabbed with it, which is the purpose. I may or may not sharpen it. The knife is awesome. Don't know if it's keeper awesome, but it's pretty awesome.

What’s the purpose of no edge directly above the finger guard? Im probably wrong, but I don’t feel like people would place a finger there while using it. Is it just to maintain strength? And that sheath isn’t streamlined or sexy, doesnt really match the knife.

The sheath blows. As far as the choil, it's probably for some kind of relief for ease of manufacturing or something. Putting an edge to the hilt on these kinds of knives is pretty useless IMO anyway. Having just a choil and no edge looks like it probably adds some strength because there's more material in a weak area, but I'm just pulling guesses out of my ass. I can ask the Spartan guys and see what they say.
