Using a Mil reticle (or MOA if you're a weirdo)

Burris just announced a scope with 1/30 mil clicks. That's substantially better than 1/10 mil clicks. Don't know if it matters much for short range, but past 500m might be nice.
I saw that. There’s other wizardry with this scope as well

I picked up a Burris XTR a few months back. It is in MIL. Got it zeroed in and it’s been in the safe ever sense. Need to get to the range with it and start putting rounds down range.

That's new and not so new. I hope they have the opto-mechanical worked out. 1/30 Mil clicks works out a little smaller thn 1/8 MOA. Theoretically, the 1/8 should let you make corrections or dial for more precision, but in real life, the shift of one click was lost in the play and even the thread pitch of the erector screws. They tended not to track very well either, which is why you don't really see them anymore.
Even if these new scopes have great opto-mechanics, with a combined shooter/ammo/gun error, you might not see any shift until 2 clicks. But then again, they might be the cat's pajamas. I'll probably see some get tested in West Texas.

Seems like they could use micro ball screws in the erector for the superfine resolution and kill a bunch of birds with one stone, eliminate lash, and substantially increase recoil resistance. Wear adjustment could kind of be baked in vs conventional, acme or woodruff threads.

Just remember, if you thought of it, 5000 other people have already thought about it 20 years ago.

Probably longer ago than that. Like ol Sol said about nothing new under the sun. That may be why patents only last 17 years. Every generation has the opportunity to be a special snowflake. 😂
