+20 moa scope mount

I have ordered a new scope for my 308. It has 28 mil vertical adj. The max range I have available to me is 900m, may be able to push that out to 1K, but wouldn't have a good shooting surface at that point. I have no interest in trying to go beyond that. I'm shooting FGGM 168gr so my drop would be between 10-11 mil depending on if I use a 100m or 200m zero. So my question is should I buy a +20 moa scope mount for it or just stay with a standard mount? It seems to me that a +20 would keep the elev. turret closer to the middle range of it's travel so it might track better.

This is just my thoughts. You want the most travel out of your optic. If it was me. Mount the scope. See how much travel you have left. Then go get the MOA scope base you think you’re going to need. Your top turret should be as close to the bottom without bottoming out, with a 100 yard zero. Then set your zero stop.

It depends on the scope, the reticle, and if there’s any bias built into the gun. 28 MOA isn’t very much at all. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a scope with only 28 MOA. That’s only 8 mil. You sure it’s 28 MOA or is it 28 mil?

Stupid alert! Yes, I meant 28 mil.

You only need about 11.5 mil for 900m so you probably don’t need bias in your rings/mount, especially if it’s a 34mm tube. If it’s a 30mm, you’re probably still good but it won’t hurt

IDK if it’s too late but the SCR2 mil reticle would be a much better choice, but I always recommend people get a grid reticle.
The MSR2 is basically a TMR reticle with an L shape stadia on one side for milling and then rapid ranging brackets on the other. You should be able to do holds pretty well but there’s nothing for wind and movers. At 900m, with 175gr standard data, it would be about an 11.2 mil hold so you’d dial 10 and hold 1.2. When you dial everything, you open up the chance of tracking problems. Doesn’t matter what scope it is, you always want to reduce the chances of malfunctioning all the time. Holds are easy too.

With that scope, you won’t need bias at all in your mount unless you really want bias in your mount.
