Very nice mature buck!Saturday night. His tenders were chewy as all get out. I assume I took them out too soon? The rest that Ive eaten has been quite good. View attachment 13763
I’ve never had them chewy like that either. But they were inedible. Idk what the deal was. And thank you!Very nice mature buck!
I've never had the tenders chewy unless they were under cooked and even then? You've got a helluva wall hanger for sure
Thank you!Nice buck!

Was your shot high and back? Obviously not too high and too far back, but like upper third and southern third of the lungs?#4 in the books. This was the only picture I took unfortunately.
Medium sized doe walked into view and walked right out like she owned the place. Circled back and I stuck her @0650. Looked for blood for almost 20 minutes before I found a spot. Marked it and ended up tracking her 127 yards straight line to point of impact. Double lung through and through too. Never found my arrow even with the lighted nock.
I set a timer on my watch for 20 minutes after the shot before I left the blind. I have a feeling I may have pushed her though. Once I got on the blood trail, I found a shit ton of blood. Found 3 places where I could tell she went down then another blood trail. Is 20 minutes enough?

There’s probably some anatomical reason for it, though I don’t know what it is. But it seems like deer shot there take longer to die than I feel like it should. It was.
