I need a fuckin awesome ham.

In time for thanksgiving. Prefer bone in. I was gonna go buy another tender belly ham, the last one I got was the best ham I have ever eaten. But the shipping is $30% of the cost of them dang ham! So I’m open to suggestions. Wheelers Meat Market in the City is gonna take preorders, but doesn’t do bone in. Online there’s a place that sells country hams called burger smokehouse, but it’s supposedly crazy salty. They even say it multiple times in the product description.

Suggestions? I’m open to wherever/whatever, as long as it’s higher quality than what you find at Aldi or the local 7-11 clearance section or whatever. Heritage breed fancy shit would be great. Also prefer not to pay an arm and a leg for shipping.

Same here. Of course, the owners of our company gave us gift cards for the Honey Baked Ham store, so being free to me might’ve made it taste a little better…

A friend of mine got a pretty good ham from Boston Market in OKC, but I don’t know if they even have a store there anymore.

You might also try Cusack’s. We only dealt with their tractor dealership before it closed (someone made them an offer they couldn’t turn down for the land), but they were good people.

I cheap out and buy a 15 to 20 dollar one from crest to throw in smoker with the bird (turkey, goose, duck or chicken, which ever we got).

Edit to add: thats year around anytime, I buy at least ten frozen turkeys when stores do clearence sale price in january.

I’ve always heard good things about Cusack’s Meats. Robertson’s Hams in Seminole also makes some good ham. There’s also a Stuckey’s close by where you can stock up on dark chocolate pecans and other pecan snacks.

I was about to pull the trigger on one of the bone in old fashioned hams, but they’re trying to charge me $27 to pick it up in store!? I’ll be calling them tomorrow to verify. That’s insane.

I’ve been to that one a few times. Nothing fancy, but it’s a good solid sandwich. Great stop to grab 1-2 sandwiches for the day when I’m heading east for fishing or hunting.

Drove by there today, you forgot to add the roundup cafe for all you can eat catfish and the seminole casino across the street.

The Catfish Roundup is a decent place to eat. My wife love's it because of the little apple fritter things they bring around to the table.

I don't know about their ham, or if they even do a ham. But we bought some prosciutto (which is ham, I guess) from Costco one Christmas and it was really good. Huge package...like several pounds.

Its worth it, honestly. A top quality ham is really something special, and not only do you get a 15-20lb chunk of meat to eat on thanksgiving, but it will cover a week or two's worth of sandwiches or breakfasts, and at the end you're left with a meaty bone to throw in some beans or split pea soup, which is just as good as the original ham on thanksgiving. I tend to freeze most of the leftover meat in single serving packs to use over the next few months, and get straight to using the bone.

$105 is pricey though. a few short years ago a top notch ham was $70. Shit has gotten wild. I think Cusak is a little proud of their stuff too, as they want $20/ea for their 18oz berkshire pork chops.
