NRA instruction

Do any of you all mess with NRA instruction at any of the OKC area gun clubs? My kid is on the CAP Cadet Advisory Council and they are trying to get their poop in a group standing up the Cadet Marksmanship Program for their Wing. I let my NRA membership go because of reasons, though I may have to pinch my nose and renew. Just fishing for advice at the moment. It looks like the OKC Gun Club is centrally located for several of the Squadrons.

If they are looking for very basic levels of instruction the programs are ok. If they are looking at becoming better, and already know the fundamentals of safety, there are better venues, but in general cost more than the NRA programs.

From looking around the webs it appears that a basic 50 meter rimfire course is the standard. Maybe a few cadets will be drawn into the dark side of competition shooting by having their fuses lit while obtaining the qualification.

Most NRA courses offer state-of-the-art, 1960s style, firearm instruction. Then again, I last went thru their pistol instructor course over 20 years ago. I'm convinced the NRA invented inertia.

But they are generally affordable and everyone recognizes their training.
