One of my hunting buddies convinced me last night to do it and said the same thing but with more violenceGood luck, but I’m going to be pissed if you get drawn the first time applying.
The year I drew a cow tag there were five first time applicants that drew bull tagsGood luck, but I’m going to be pissed if you get drawn the first time applying.
1 either sex and 2 cow tags. While I'd love to take a Bull, I could fill a shit ton of freezer space with a cow.@rockchalk06 did you apply for doe/cow tags too, or just either sex? The drawing odds are way better for doe/cow but I’ve always only applied for either sex tags.
As far as I know, it’s done through the wildlife department. I don’t think Lawton has any authority to conduct a draw hunt, but I might be mistaken. I do know you have to get a permit to fish/hunt on Lawton property like Ellsworth or Lawtonka.Does the city of Lawton still do their own elk draw?
Here is what I was referring to.As far as I know, it’s done through the wildlife department. I don’t think Lawton has any authority to conduct a draw hunt, but I might be mistaken. I do know you have to get a permit to fish/hunt on Lawton property like Ellsworth or Lawtonka.
I have no idea . . . it's been happening for years from what I've heard.I never saw anything like that before. Sounds like a lawton city gov scam. I didn't know they had authority to sell hunts. Guarantee that's for that little stretch between Lake Lawtonka and the Refuge where elk escape.
Yep. I've applied once or twice. They only pick a total of 10 hunters split between two different hunts with 5 hunters each. It’s a fairly well kept secret I think. Stephens and Comanche county folks with a beer or two in them are the only ones I’ve ever heard talk about it. More attention = more apps = less chance of being drawn.
It’s a legit thing, but I don’t when you can submit an application. The city of Lawton has made a ton of changes within the last year on all kinds of recreational permits and licenses, and most of the employees don’t know what’s going on. Trying to get an annual boat permit has become a major PITA.I have no idea . . . it's been happening for years from what I've heard.
1400 acres is what the application says.
