What's everyone's preference as to whether to use blue Loctite on your scope ring screws. Do you use it or just torque to specs. and call it good.

I don't use loctite much, but when I do, only blue. Never green and definitely never red. If the screws already have the little paint threadlocker, then that is all you need. If they are bare, make sure to clean new screws in rubbing alcohol, then a little drop (not from the tube) of blue on the lower 3-4 threads. Take a business card, shake up your blue threadlocker, squeeze some out on the card, and dip one side of the clean screw up to 3-4 threads in it, and screw it in. Once they're all in, torque in order to the spec you require. It shouldn't look like a big blue blob on the threads. Vibratite is pretty good to...we use it sometimes. It's usually a little more spendy, but can be removed and reused a few times. It turns into a booger on the threads.

I've used Loctite and not used it. Honestly, when I've used a little GunScrubber or something similar to clean all the threads and screw holes, then torqued down the screws, they pretty much never come loose. My experience, anyway.

Beats me,

never loctited any of my scope's bases or ring screws, just cleaned screw threads & chased, then torqued in, none ever loosened.

Only time I've ever had a ring loosening issue was with a quick detach nut on one slacked up under recoil on 300wm, iirc it was a warne ring.

Probably could have loctited it and been gtg, but I replaced the set with leupold base & rings.
