Two of the jarhead vets that have helped me teach Scouts 22 merit badge and Women on Target AR for years had their daughters kill bucks on my place this week end. I’m tickled to death to see these kids harvest decent bucks.
Both were killed with ARs we built for them, one shot with 77 SMK, the other a 64 bonded Nosler, both ahead of Winchester primers and Varget powder. The oldest on top loaded just one round, the 77 SMK, and dropped the deer with one shot in the chest, which was approx 100 yds from where it was hit. She must have hit a rib, the lung and liver were shredded, indicating the bullet broke up. The lower picture she took a 300 BO to go look for the deer. It went a couple of hundred yards with the liver shot out. She was off on her aiming point and her Dad told her about it. He made a great point to make the killing shot a good one so they don’t suffer and you don’t have to look for them. He is a great instructor for both kids and women.
