At what distance do you steely eyed pistoleros sight in you defensive handgun?

I’ve been in and around farm life all my life around Cogar/Binger Oklahoma. We have an abundance of deer, hogs, and turkeys. The two times I’ve had hogs come out of the woods unexpectedly while armed a pistol is extremely difficult to gain an advantage. It happens fast, scares the shit out of you and then it’s done. It’s just like a fucking ambush.
Only time I ever walked away from my truck without a weapon we were scouting fall turkeys at the ranch with a buddy. We had the biggest dang sow I’ve ever seen stand up about twenty yards and fix her gaze upon us. I had a stick in my hand that I was whacking seed heads with. I just pointed it at her and said would you look at that. Glad she went the other way or I would have had to kill her with that little stick.

Years ago I was talking to a guy who’d just come back from a javelina hunt in south Texas. He said one of the other guys in the party had decided to hunt with a spear; he figured out that might not be the best idea when he stabbed a javelina and the little bastard started walking up the spear toward him…

All I had was a T-post driver and fencing pliers

Like I said when I posted that picture before.... Don't just sit and stare at the big black truck pulling into the field. 😁
And by the way he substantially out weighed the 230 grain hollow point.... if I had weighed him in grains as well. 🤣
Jerry Michulek and I were charged one time by 9 wild pigs down on the Comanche Ranch in Texas. They came straight down the road we were walking on as fast as they could go..... right after we had shot their momma's. As I recall, in that 20 yard charge, not one survived to gore us to death, but I could be wrong. 😁

Nah! They were all "puntable", maybe in the 10# range and I can't get think of a single time that all I would have had only a t post driver and fencing pliers, and don't forget the stick! 😄
But putting myself in that scenario with just a t post driver and fencing pliers, I've just got to ask myself..... How did I shoot their mom's??? 🤣🤣🤣
