Holster

Got to make the kind you want, or pay out the ass for factory made gear.

The one above is simular to the one my pop had from the late 50s.

When I couldn't find a reasonably affordable leather holster I liked for my large rugers,

I went to tandy's to buy a piece of belly leather for approx $20 that was big enough for two holsters.

Used the older holster as a rough in modified template, the holsters I made were to how I like sidearm to fit & holsters to ride.

Several years later guy I worked with bought one of them for his 44blackhawk

then several years later I'd soaped & oiled the old holster, had it on porch in sunlight to air, when came back that evening it was gone.

I watched a video a while back where a fella used one of those vacuum storage bags to wet form to his pistol. It looked great and saved hours of boning in. After shopping for particular holsters I have come to the conclusion that making is the only way to get what I want instead of fits most.

Looks good!

That'd be one simple easy way.

I did the old fashion soak holster in water, put stainless vaquero wrapped in cellophane coated in leather oil in, brush over outside of holster to shape with the ball end of screwdriver handle, then hung in sunlight for a bit to dry.

Few days later when dry through n through, I scrubbed outside a bit & dye with black one coat, then buffed.

could have coated few more times for a great deep solid black, but one coat faux pas "black" gave it a worn look, let it rest in for a bit then coat & buffed of leather oil inside n out.

Every now & then I'll melt a little black kiwi shoe polish buff it in.

It still does fine 30+ years after I made it

You still usually have to do final creasing and shaping the holster to the gun.

Very nice, I see you are still very adept at "stitching" 😁

I'm not really a fan of the stitching standing out. I stained the stitching on the top side of the sole of a brand new pair of Lucchese boots, and my duty holster got black shoe polish rubbed into the little bit of stitching that showed. I don't even like the stitching standing out on my saddles.

Different strokes and all that.
