LaRue Battle Knife is Live!

The knife arrived just now. It's very impressive and has a nice in hand feel. I don't see much reason to post pics since they all look alike. I guess the only thing that chaps my ass a little bit is buying a premium knife and it's dull out of the box. I have very poor skills at sharpening a knife. They usually end up duller than when I started. Every Hogue or Bark River I have ever purchased has come hair popping sharp. I have near a hundred knives so if one gets dull, I just put it on the shelf and grab another. I'll leave it to my heirs to resharpen them.

It's supposed to be sharp. The LRIP one I got is sharp AF. I'll ask about that. At any rate, I'll sharpen it for you if you want. It's easy, unless the edge is blunt or round.

It's got a clean ground edge, just not sharp enough to catch on my thumbnail let alone shave arm hair.

Does it cut steak or butter? I just got a reply asking if it's never been sharpened.

It would probably make it's way through a steak, but not in one or two strokes. No way it would cut Bob's brisket. I can run my fingers back and forth along the edge and it won't leave a mark.

Yeah, you shoulda been cut. I sent you a PM.

Called Larue. Asked about my order and getting a refund. Easy and painless. He looked in to my order, said it should have been shipped a long time ago. Said it wasn’t anywhere, that it didn’t exist in the system. Said “well that’s weird”. Oh well.

Sorry things didn't work out for you and they lost your order. I'm surprised they didn't offer to send one from off their production line right away since there should have been a record of when they charged your CC. Had you just lost interest in it and only wanted your money back?

Pretty much. Them just sitting on my money while I could do other things with my $400 was irritating. They charged me the day I placed the order, 5 months ago if I remember right. With a baby on the way next month I figured it could get put to better use, either for me or the baby.

I also purchased the knife under the impression that it was a “limited edition” one out of a thousand made as a throwback to the old ones everybody lusted over, to include myself. But suddenly, before they could even get half of the orders made, they’re selling more of the knives on the website. So really the only thing “limited edition” about them is the $10 hat and a picture that may or may not be signed, and some people don’t even get the picture. That “special deal” wasn’t even special, as it appears to be what everyone gets to pay, which sucks for all those guys who had a LBK last year, as their knives are suddenly worth a lot less.

It wasn’t any one factor, it was a few. At the end of the day that $400 is going to be better spent on a car seat, a smith machine, or maybe a portion of a suppressor.

I called on my order. It'll be about a month. I asked Dave the sales guy about yours and he said your order wasn't on their queue anywhere but he could pull up your order by number, so it was missed when the other knives were being packaged. He said he would put you up front and expedite but you wanted a refund instead and he also said he would put you up front if you wanted to place the order again at a later time (it would be a regular run - just knife, sheath, and zipper case. So he was going to square you away. JIC anyone was wondering.

WRT special edition, all these new knives aren't getting the signature drawing and extra shit that the first 1000 come with to include the embroidered number hat. Not that it's that special, but it's not really quite as you say.

I never said he wasn’t helpful, he was real nice, and very helpful. He definitely did not tell me anything about putting me to the front of the line, but given how gracious and easy to deal with he was, I don’t doubt it.

What are you thinking that I’m saying?

So in spite of getting my order cancelled and refunded, I received an LBK today. I even checked the invoice and it shows that It was printed, boxed, and likely shipped minutes after they hung up the phone. I figure I’ll give them a call Monday and see if there was a mistake, but it sure doesn’t seem like it.

Dang, if that was a 'make it right' gesture, that's pretty impressive.

Well I’ve definitely been squared, righted, and hooked up. Looks like they got a customer for life, lol. That’s just not something places do anymore, even to a much smaller extent.

Did you get all the lickies and chewies with it?
