Carnivore and Fasting…

I am doing very well mentally this go around of carnivore. I am on day 20 and this weekend I am fasting and I have so far made it 41 hours only drinking water.

I plan on continuing this way of eating again with no cheat days even with the Holidays coming up. I feel as good if not better than I did last year when I did the diet from September to March and I have been encouraging everyone to eat this way. I have even got some family members on board with it.

Eating should be for survival and not pleasure.

Oh you’d be surprised. Usually day 2-3 of carnivore will have you shitting water and then things balance out.

You don’t shit near as much on carnivore. When eating only meat your body is using everything it can. I seriously only shit about 2-3 times a week now and yes, it’s totally healthy.

If you think “oh I can’t shit without fiber.” Well I got news for you, we humans can’t even digest fiber. Fiber is something that just keeps building up in our intestines. Wouldn’t recommend.

Another cool thing about only eating meat is your shits don’t stink. And when you do fart it’s hardly even any smell. I used to clear the house out when I was on a standard American diet.

I kinda do the keto thing...not religiously...just as more of a guide to healthy eating habits. We're also trying to eat more of a Mediterranean diet. Some pretty good stuff.
 
What's your day to day regimen? Eating one meal? How often are you doing the extended fast?
I go by the Church calender. No food till dinner then usually vegetables on Wednesday, no food till dinner then seafood on friday. Follow extended fasting guidelines during certain times (Lent, Nativity etc) with a few no food periods like Ash Wednesday to Friday evening.

Traditionally the entire society did this. If you go to a church that still practices fasting, such as the Orthodox the congregation looks pretty healthy.

It is also interesting to learn that eating is all in your head and you have control over it. The fist 24 hours kinda sucks but after that it is not so bad. Your vision sharpens, you hear better and at the end it is like Wow this basic food is AMAZING.

Let’s clarify your meaning of dinner. Okies call dinner what most people up north call lunch, and supper is what most people up north call dinner. You’re now officially an Okie, so did you mean dinner or supper?

I work 12 hour nights so it would be my work lunch after midnight. Usually 2 am

But for most people it should be night time meal...so supper?

But around 10 hours after waking up.

Dang I didn’t see the notification. Sorry about that.

My meal usually is a ribeye steak around 5:00pm. If I don’t eat steak I’ll do eggs and bacon. Sometimes ground beef patty. I’ll stick chicken wings in the air fryer but it’s not as fatty of a meat so I kind of stick to mostly red meat. Bacon is the only pork I eat… other pork seems to make me feel horrible. I’m boring as hell.

I plan on doing an extended fast once a month. I want to do at least 48hrs but max being 72hrs I think… I am Currently in the middle of an extended fast right now. 24hrs down so far.. I wanted to try to do it during the week so I’m busy at work and not tempted to eat like I get when I’m home during the weekend.

I need to drop a few pounds and I'd like to do keto again, but I also want to ride the bike and I just don't think I'd have the fuel to do it. Lack of energy for doing rigorous stuff was only thing I never really got around. And I guess some muscle cramps at night.

I may just try eating roughly the carbs I estimate I'd burn on bike and see if I can strike a balance.

Anyway, good luck on it.

I no longer need to so that’s why I intermittent fast and do extended fasts. Get fat adapted and you’ll have energy for bike riding. Your testosterone will increase too when you aren’t eating carbs anymore.

Muscle cramps means you need more electrolytes. I make my own, I no longer purchase Powerade zero or sugar free propel.

How do you make your electrolyte drinks. I made what they called ketorade and it helped a little bit with cramps, but only a little. And it tasted like piss and smelled worse.

1/2 teaspoon fine grain Himalayan pink salt
400mg Potassium Chloride
1/4 teaspoon Magnesium Malate

Mix in 16oz of water. I chug mine since it’s pretty damn salty.
