Range Day Pic Thread

When I hunt I dial for range and hold off for wind in the reticle. If I’m just shooting several steel targets at KD ranges I’ll use the tree for range and wind.

When hunting, I have been known to get lost in the tree and muck up the shot. By dialing the range I only need to shift left/right in the reticle from center. Could I hold for everything in the reticle when hunting. You bet, but that’s just not my preferred method in that instance.

Did some 204 ammo comparison today. Hornady Superformance 24gr NTX copper, Fiocchi w 32gr Hornady Vmax and Hornady Superfirmance 40gr Vmax.
Originally "wanted" 24gr because of crazy velocity but they're $$ and hard to come by out here. Got Fiocchi, then some Hornady 40gr. 40gr is said to be finicky in a 1:12 twist as that's kinda heavy for caliber, but mine seemed to like them the best.

40gr (not shooting for group, checking for stability/keyholing, and getting barrel warm to even out next round)

Then a few quick groups:

Pretty decent day today. Went to a Hot Wheels show in the morning, then figured since it was so warm out for February here, I'd see if anything was moving at the Prairie dog field. I saw 5, shot 3. The 2 survivors were as I drove in and didn't have rifle unpacked. It's a heck of a road getting there, thankfully it was mostly dry.
First outing with the 204 Ruger didn't disappoint.
