Tales from the Reloading Room

If you ain’t kissed you chronograph then you ain’t living on the edge. This is my Caldwell. Still works. Maybe better cuz it knows I ain’t to be played with. After kissing it it had a 36% decrease in missed shots.

I had one of the white ones I smoked with a 168 grain BTHP many years ago.

When I was a bit dumber than I am now, I thought I'd see what speeds I was getting at 500 yards. Put the Chrono on a table and sent one. Apparently I didn't do the MIL to MOA calculation correctly and dropped the round dead center into the face of it. My spotter without missing a beat "well son, I think you're a bit low"

I didn't know you could call the bullet manufacturer back then and ask what speed you could load to and mimic the speeds at 500.

6.5 CM small rifle primer brass load development. I can get these SD and ES down. Just need to fire form some if not all of the brass first. The best thing I’m seeing is between 43.3, 43.4, 43.5. Full length neck sizing should help that. Just have to fire form the brass. Left LRP Right SRP

That is good stuff. I was going to run Peterson on my Tikka's load development, but could only find 50 pieces. Went Alpha instead. That 50 I do have, I am using for a buddies 6.5. Very impressed by it

I bought 50 pieces of it a few years ago and really like the numbers I saw. That gun kinda put on the back burner so that brass is only on its second loading. I decided this is the year I want to get that rifle dialed in so I went ahead and order this 100. I don’t know if I just got lucky or what but I ordered 2 50’s and they have the same lot number so atleast they should be very similar. Lol

Loaded up my sample bags of 9mm Blue Bullets.

50 - 125gr Truncated Cone
50 - 115gr Round Nose

Hopefully get to test how they shoot next week.

Pretty promising results from today. Looks like shots 8-9 were close and 5 FPS apart. Shot 7 was a good 25 FPS slower, but the impact looked good. 7-8-9 would have been a good group. I will load 5 at 43.8 Grains and also 5 at 43.2. Shots 5 and 6 were close too. 2700-2750 FPS seems to be this barrel's sweet spot with the 127 grain LRX.

I would have went this morning to test the 6GT. Had to run and get a B&W hitch for the new truck. Had to adult today I guess. Still got to load 6.5 CM up and test the srp load date and fire form the brass.

Meant to post that on the satterlee test thread

Needed to restock my feedtruck gun ammo. The 8yo daughter and I have started on it. Had 11 of these 50gr Z max left so we put 25gr of h335 under em. Never used 335 but my daughter picked it out of the 6 223 powders I’ve got so we went with it. Gonna load some 55gr vmax in the remainder of these nickel Speer cases. She said the colors of this ammo is very cute. We gonna kill ugly coyotes and dillers with these cute sombitches!
